Dos and Don’ts in an Interview – Part 1

RESEARCH. Research about the company thoroughly using all available materials. Learn about its objectives and types of businesses and other group companies.

MASTER. Practice and master interview techniques and responses. Understand the employer’s concerns and determine why you want this job. Do a preliminary study on various types of interviews and interview questions. Master interview techniques like STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to grab the attention of the employer.

PREPARE. Prepare your answers to common interview questions. Usually, one of the opening questions of an interview is on saying something about yourself. Be prepared with a ready-made answer to such questions. Practice them in front of a mirror.

CATALOGUE. Take at least 2 sets of photocopies of all of your certificates, ID card & CV. Clip each set together along with a color passport size photo. Keep a neat, presentable file with all original certificates as per your resume and two sets of copies.

BE PUNCTUAL. Arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled time of the interview; but not before that.
